Russell Crowe

A galvanizing presence whose prodigious talents earned him Hollywood's highest acting accolades but who was frequently in hot water over his mercurial--and occasionally violent--temperament, handsome New Zealander Russell Crowe ultimately built a reputation as a top-rank leading man whose electric performances well overshadowed his "bad boy" qualities.

He was born on 7th April 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand. His parents, Alex and Jocelyn, worked as innkeepers and caterers for the most part. The family lived a very bohemian lifestyle, as they were constantly on the move. Russell did not enjoy a permanent home until the age of fourteen. He got the titles of Actor, Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Street performer, Bartender, Bingo-number caller, Waiter.

Crowe made his debut as an actor at age 6 in an episode of the Australian TV series "Spyforce", starring Jack Thompson. At age of 14 he fancied himself a rock musician, and after assuming the identity of Russ Le Roc, set about making name of himself. While not playing music, he worked part time as a waiter and bartender. Crowe began acting in his adopted home country of Australia, winning acclaim in films like The Crossing (1990) and Romper Stomper (1992).

Crowe married the Australian singer and actress Danielle Spencer.

He got the awards in 2001 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, Drama, A Beautiful Mind, 2001 BAFTA Award for Best Actor, A Beautiful Mind, 2001 Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor, A Beautiful Mind, 2000 Academy Awards for Best Actor, Gladiator, 1992 AFI Awards for Best Actor in a lead role, Romper Stomper, 1991 AFI Awards for Best Actor in a supporting role, Proof.

Crowe enjoyed a side gig as the longtime lead singer of the rock band 30 Odd Foot of Grunt, performing with them well after his Oscar-winning achievements, though the group never emerged as a substantial hitmaker.
