Jackie Chan was born on 7th of April, 1954 in Hong Kong. He was the only child of Charles and Lee-Lee Chan, having, reports say, spent 12 months in the womb, finally being removed surgically and weighing 12 pounds.

Jackie attended the Nah-Hwa primary school on Hong Kong Island. He was not academically bright, failing to pass Primary 1 as his peers moved on to Primary 3.

Charles moved to Australia to work at the Chinese Embassy, and Jackie, now named Yuen Lo, saw the true nature of the Peking Opera School. The training in music, acrobatics and many martial arts lasted 18 hours a day. Returning to Hong Kong, he signed up as lead actor in Lo Wei's film company, purveyors of fairly poor material

In childhood, he suffered terrible poverty and the most painfully rigorous of educations. In his early career, he was almost cast aside as just another in a long line of failed Next Bruce Lees.

It's hard to conceive how popular Jackie Chan is today, now he has broken the West. Even years ago, he was so big in Japan that many teenage girls were pulled from railway lines and pumped empty of poison, having felt the need to die for him. He can't help but go too far, and people love him for it. 2004 would also see his hand-prints on Hong Kong's new Avenue of Stars, alongside Lee's and those of such co-stars as Sammo Hung, Tsui Hark, Maggie Cheung and Anita Mui, who tragically of cancer that same year at the painfully young age of 40.

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell was born July 18, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

For some actors, success just seems to come naturally. In the case of talented stage and screen beauty Kristen Bell, it wasn't so much a matter of if she was going to be a star after realizing her dream during an early performance as a banana in Rahhedy Ann and Andy at the tender age of 12 -- but when she would finally make the big time. Paralyzed with stage fright as she waited for her cue off-stage, Bell was offered a word of encouragement by her supportive mother that would ultimately give her the drive to realize her life's calling.

Kristen graduated from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied musical theater. She made her Broadway debut in 2001, originating the role of Becky Thatcher in the short-lived "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." In 2002, Kristen was in the revival of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" on Broadway, starring Laura Linney and Liam Neeson.

In 2003, Bell impressed television viewers with a solid performance in the made-for-television drama The King and Queen of Moonlight Bay? before moving on to essay the unforgettable role of a young girl struggling to raise her three stepbrothers after their drug-addicted mother is sent to jail in Gracie’s Choice.

Andy Roddick

At the age when most kids are figuring out creative lies for their resume, Andy Roddick is the world’s hottest pizza-loving, break-dancing, black-sock-wearing tennis player.

Andrew Stephen Roddick was born on August 30, 1982, in Omaha, Nebraska to Blanche and Jerry Roddick. Blanche was a schoolteacher and Jerry was a businessman who struck it rich accumulating Jiffy Lube franchises. Roddick was born in Omaha, Nebraska, moved to Boca Raton, Florida, and now lives in Austin, Texas.
As of March 21st 2006, Roddick ranked as the best male US tennis player and the fourth-best in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Roddick is known for his explosive serves, powerful forehands, and off-court charm and personality. He also holds the fastest serve record (clocked at 155 mph, or 250 km/h).
Roddick is considered a U.S. sports celebrity. Following his 2003 US Open win, Roddick embarked on a 12-hour media blitz, appearing on the Today Show. MTV, CNN, and The Late Show with David Letterman, among others. He has thrown out the first pitch at several Major League Baseball games, most recently Game 2 of the 2003 Oakland-Boston playoff series. After winning the NASDAQ tournament, Roddick opened that stock market on August 20, 2003.

Andy has the total package for tennis stardom. He is big and strong, moves around the court well, and uses his head to stay calm when the pressure is on. Andy’s serve is the most feared in tennis. When it tops out in the low 140s it is almost unreturnable. His second serve is no picnic either.

Andy’s forehand is above average, while his backhand is superb when it’s working and less than superb when it’s not. The difference between Andy before he hooked up with Brad Gilbert and after is that when some part of his game is flat, he can manage points to minimize the damage.

The X-factor for Andy is his enormous crowd appeal. Clearly, he feeds off the energy his presence creates. And although many opponents resent him for the connection he makes with fans, it is hard to imagine they need a special incentive to beat him. When you are going up against the guy who’s sitting atop the mountain, you’d better bring your A-game, and then some.

Russell Crowe

A galvanizing presence whose prodigious talents earned him Hollywood's highest acting accolades but who was frequently in hot water over his mercurial--and occasionally violent--temperament, handsome New Zealander Russell Crowe ultimately built a reputation as a top-rank leading man whose electric performances well overshadowed his "bad boy" qualities.

He was born on 7th April 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand. His parents, Alex and Jocelyn, worked as innkeepers and caterers for the most part. The family lived a very bohemian lifestyle, as they were constantly on the move. Russell did not enjoy a permanent home until the age of fourteen. He got the titles of Actor, Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Street performer, Bartender, Bingo-number caller, Waiter.

Crowe made his debut as an actor at age 6 in an episode of the Australian TV series "Spyforce", starring Jack Thompson. At age of 14 he fancied himself a rock musician, and after assuming the identity of Russ Le Roc, set about making name of himself. While not playing music, he worked part time as a waiter and bartender. Crowe began acting in his adopted home country of Australia, winning acclaim in films like The Crossing (1990) and Romper Stomper (1992).

Crowe married the Australian singer and actress Danielle Spencer.

He got the awards in 2001 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, Drama, A Beautiful Mind, 2001 BAFTA Award for Best Actor, A Beautiful Mind, 2001 Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor, A Beautiful Mind, 2000 Academy Awards for Best Actor, Gladiator, 1992 AFI Awards for Best Actor in a lead role, Romper Stomper, 1991 AFI Awards for Best Actor in a supporting role, Proof.

Crowe enjoyed a side gig as the longtime lead singer of the rock band 30 Odd Foot of Grunt, performing with them well after his Oscar-winning achievements, though the group never emerged as a substantial hitmaker.

Amitabh bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan was born on 11th October 1942 in Alahabad, India. He is a son of well known poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. He has a brother named Ajitabh.

Amitabh Bachchan is nearly about 63 years of a lifetime. Not interested in films at first, he joined the industry in 1969 with Saat Hindustani. He got his break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, as he was a friend of her son Rajiv Gandhi. This is how Amitabh made an entry in Bollywood, starting with Zanjeer, co-starred with his future wife-to-be Jaya Bhaduri, and since then there has been no looking back. He also became Bollywood’s first action man with Zanjeer in 1973. Then, he was known as "the angry young man" after that movie. This movie gave him acclaim and made him a superstar. He started doing such roles in a time whether other superstars such as Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra, and Rajesh Khanna were attached to romantic roles. He then starred in Deewar with the yesteryear heart-throb Shashi Kapoor. This went on to become a super hit. His son name is Abhishek Bachchan, he is also an actor and daughter name is Shweta has been married, lives a non-filmi life and has a child.

He completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Bombay to find work as a film star, in vain though, as film-makers preferred someone with a fairer skin, and he was not quite fair enough. But they did use one of his other assets - his deep baritone voice - which was used for narration and background commentary.

Four flops in 1999 and incurring debt of over 90 crores rupees of his sinking company ABCL saw him at an all-time low. To make matters worse, after the defeat of the Congress party, Amitabh lost considerable political support, the opposition made him a target, and his credit rating deteriorated to such an extent that a leading nationalized bank, Canara Bank, sued him for outstanding loans. He did bounce back, presenting the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire called “Kaun Banega Crorepati?” (2000). After a series of hits with Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001) and Baghban (2003) and Khakee (2004), a 60 plus Bachchan is showing no signs of slowing down and proving the critics wrong once again.

Born Nicholas

Born Nicholas Coppola was born on January 7, 1964, in Long Beach, California, to choreographer Joy Vogelsang and literature professor August Coppola. Cage has two older brothers, Marc and Christopher. He is the nephew of film director Francis Ford Coppola and, as a youth, visited his uncle often at his San Francisco home.

He changed his name to Nicolas Cage as a way to separate his identity from that of his famous uncle. He chose the name “Cage” as a tribute to comic-book superhero Luke Cage.

Nicholas led a decidedly more middle-class existence than either his wealthy Bay Area relatives or his fellow students at Beverly Hills High School. He hated school and opted to take the G.E.D. exam in eleventh grade. After getting his certificate, Nicholas landed a part as a surfer dude on a short-lived TV series called The Best of Times (1980-81), and made his feature film debut in a small role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982).

He won 1 Oscar, 1 Golden Globe and 2 BAFTA nominations

IN an industry in which everyone longs to be tagged a brooding, edgy rebel, Nicolas Cage is the genuine article. During the course of his movie career, Cage has had two teeth yanked out sans Novocain (while filming Birdy, 1984), has trashed his trailer in a fit of spleen (The Cotton Club, 1984), and has eaten a live cockroach on camera (Vampire's Kiss, 1989). Now there's a guy who will do anything for art.

Vin Diesel

Huge, hulking and with a neatly shaved skull and a voice that sounds like granite scraping on granite, New York-born Vin Diesel started his career as a child actor with the Theatre for the New City.

He was born on 18th July 1967 in New York, New YorK. His mother name is Delora. Diesel and his stepfather are very close. He was studied in Hunter College, New York, New York, English.

After studying English at Hunter College, he began penning screenplays and making films. His short "Multi-Facial" debuted at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival and his first full-length feature, "Strays" (1997) premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival.

The deep-voiced, muscular actor landed a high profile supporting role as the tough New Yorker Private Carparzo in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed WWII drama "Saving Private Ryan" (1998). After voicing the title character in the delightful--if underperfoming--animated adventure "The Iron Giant" (1999) Diesel got his first taste of leading man success in director David Twohy's cult sci-fi film "Pitch Black" (2000), in which the actor played a convict who, after his starship crash lands on a hostile planet, proves to be the salvation for the survivors.

In between writing and directing his second feature, "Doormen," based in part on his own experiences as a bouncer at NYC nightclubs, Diesel found time to star in his "The Fast and the Furious" helmer Rob Cohen's action yarn,"XXX" (2002), a box-office bonaza that was routinely panned by the critics but nevertheless solidified the actor's status as an heir apparent to A-list action stars like Stallone and Schwarzenegger; and in the mob comedy, "Knockaround Guys", playing tough-guy Taylor, a young mobster-in-training desperate to retrieve a bag full of stolen cash.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. He was raise by his father, an aspiring jazz saxophonist who became an accountant. Jim's family included his mother, brother John, sisters Rita, and Patrica. Jim discovered when he was real young that he was had a talent for making faces of famous people.

Carrey found his calling at an early age, performing in front of classmates in elementary school -- and making them laugh. At age 15 he began performing at Yuk Yuk's, a famous Toronto comedy club, and continued performing in clubs all over Canada until age 19, when he packed his bags and moved to Los Angeles. Soon after becoming a regular at Mitzi Shore's Comedy Store, he was put on tour by comedian Rodney Dangerfield, who had caught his act and was impressed by the young talent.

He made his (reportedly awful) professional stand-up debut at Yuk-Yuk's, one of the many local clubs that would serve as his training ground in the years to come. He dropped out of high school, worked on his celebrity impersonations, and in 1979 worked up the nerve to move to Los Angeles. He finessed his way into a regular gig at The Comedy Store, where he impressed Rodney Dangerfield so much that the veteran comic signed him as an opening act for an entire season. During this period Carrey met and married waitress Melissa Womer, with whom he had a daughter (Jane).

He was marriaged with three women Lauren Holly (23 September 1996 - 29 July 1997) (divorced)
Melissa Womer (28 March 1987 - 11 December 1995) (divorced) 1 child

In 1999, Carrey starred in Man on the Moon, a movie depicting the late Andy Kaufman, a role that both Nicolas Cage and Kevin Spacey were also seeking. Carrer stayed busy in the following years, with roles in the comedy Me, Myself, and Irene, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and The Majestic.

Britney Spears

More than any other single artist, Britney Spears was the driving force behind the return of teen pop in the late '90s. "Pop Phenomenon" doesn't come close to describing Britney Spears. The name is legend around the world. So famous is Britney Spears now that it's impossible to imagine a World in which she doesn't exist.

Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2nd, 1981 in Kentwood, Louisiana.

At age 11, she tried for "MMC" (1989) and this time made it as a mouseketeer along side many stars of today. Jake Gyllenhaal

Brown-haired with fresh-faced good looks, thoughtful young actor Jake Gyllenhaal made an impressive mark with a starring role in the 1999 feel-good favorite "October Sky".

He was born on 19th December 1980, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

With a talent and instinct beyond his years, Jake Gyllenhaal is on the fast track toward stardom. Even in the early stages of his career, he has starred opposite several of today's most respected actors such as Dustin Hoffman, Laura Dern, Holly Hunter, Chris Cooper, John C. Reilly and Susan Sarandon. He has caught the attention of audiences and critics with a series of powerful performances, and this year will be no exception.

Gyllenhaal next appeared in the little-seen children's adventure "Josh and S.A.M." (1993), playing a mean stepbrother to the title characters. The son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner, the actor was also featured in two of his father's films, "A Dangerous Woman" (1993, also scripted by his mom) and "Homegrown" (1998).

The following year Gyllenhaal made his starring debut in "October Sky", a film based on the real life story of NASA engineer Homer Hickham Jr. The young actor played Hickham, a boy interested in rocket science whose brilliant mind and staunch dedication, even in the face of a discouraging father, wrote him a ticket out of his dead-end mining town.

Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for best actor in the critically acclaimed Donnie Darko. A favorite at the Sundance Film Festival, the New Market release combines elements of mystical fantasy and science fiction with teenage romance. Gyllenhaal starred in another Sundance favorite in 2002, The Good Girl. In the dark comedy, he portrays a young man who falls in love and has a torid affair with a married woman.

Marking his theater debut, Gyllenhaal appeared on the London stage with a starring role in Kenneth Lonergan's revival of This Is Our Youth. The play, which was a critical sensation on Broadway, ran for eight weeks in London's West End.

While his unassuming good looks and scholarly lifestyle didn't grab many headlines, his talent and respect for his craft would promise the likable new arrival a bright future in film.

John Hurt

John Hurt was born on 22nd January 1940 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, UK.

He is one of Britain's most esteemed and prolific actors, the appropriately-named John Hurt (no one does hurt like Hurt) has fashioned a career as a consummate screen chameleon who lives his parts to the fullest without revealing the man behind the mask.

The son of a rigid Anglican minister, he first went to art school before succumbing to his passion and attending London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After making both his professional stage debut "Infanticide in the House of Fred Ginger" and his feature debut "The Young and the Willing" in 1962, he earned raves the following year onstage in Harold Pinter's "The Dwarfs". Though he came to Broadway in the title role of "Hamp" (1965), it was his work in a 1966 London production of "Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuch" which convinced director Fred Zinnemann to cast him as the Judas role of Richard Rich in the Academy Award-winning film version of Robert Bolt's "A Man for All Seasons" (1966), bringing the young actor his widest exposure to that time.

He won 3 BAFTAs, 1 Golden Globe, nominated for 2 Oscars awards.

John Hurt must be commended for his amused acceptance of one particular fact. After all these years and all those brilliant performances, millions know him best for hacking, gurgling, collapsing over a table and having an alien burst out of his chest.

"I've done some stinkers in the cinema," he's said.

Hailed as the next master-blaster following the legacy of the great West Indian Vivian Richards, this man has all the shots in the book, and a few more. There is nothing this man cannot do - he opens the batting for India in the one-dayers, comes at no. 4 in test matches, bowls rightarm offbreaks, legbreaks and even googlies. He also swings the ball both ways when he bowls his medium pacers. It seems he had tried his hands at wicket-keeping too, but gave it up in pursuit of what he does best - Batting.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born on 24th April, 1973 in Mumbai, India. His hight is 5'4". He is a Right Hand Batsman.

The first batsman to score 10,000 runs in one-day cricket, making the record in the third game of a five-match series against Australia on the 31st of March 2001. He reached the landmark when he scored 34 runs in his 266th match and 259th innings. Tendulkar, 27, in his amazing 12-year career, has scored a world record 28 hundreds and 50 half-centuries in his 10,000 runs.

A genius without a doubt, this little master made his International debut in ODI’s and Tests at the age of 16 against Pakistan against the fiery pace of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. He then went to England as a part of the national side, and has not looked back ever since. The name itself strikes terror in the hearts of bowlers all around the world. Hailed as the next master-blaster following the legacy of the great West Indian Vivian Richards, this man has every shot in the book, and can kill any attack in the world when in full swing. There is nothing this man cannot do. He has more than a hundred wickets in ODIs and 35 in tests, though his bowling averages are above 40.

Tendulkar 'specialites' include the straight drive, the cover drive, the square cut, the pullshot over midwicket/square leg, the delicate leg glance, the late cut, the lofted shots over mid-on and mid-off and not to mention the improvisations he keeps coming up with time and again. He plays each of his shots amazingly well and has even employed the reverse sweep to good effect. A short but powerful man, some of his shots are hit with so much power that the ball simply rockets to the fence as if he was trying to dismiss the ball from his presence. On the other hand, some of his shots are simply timed and placed well. His timing can be quite exquisite and it is this blend of timing and raw power that puts him in the top league with Brian Lara ,Waugh Twins and Aravinda de Silva.

He used the heaviest bat about 3 pounds 2 ounces. At the age of 25, he is the most experienced player in the Indian team. His selfless approach and devotion to cricket coupled with the lack of any ego problems makes him one of the most approachable and likeable personalities on the cricket field.

His wife name is Anjali. His favorite cricketers are Gavaskar, Viv Richards, Imran Khan, Sandeep Patil. His favorite cricket ground is Sydney Cricket Ground. He is also a good Tennis player. His ambition is to be number one in the world.

Although funded by Showtime, the feature received rapturous reviews when it played at various film festivals and was slated for a theatrical release in 2000. As the frivolous Wharton heroine under the direction of Terence Davies, Anderson delivered a beautifully nuanced performance that sparked talk of end-of-year award consideration, but somehow her brilliant performance went overlooked.

Madonna

Madonna Louise Ciccone was born on 16 August 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, USA.

Published by : http://music.yahoo.com/ar-256352-bio--Madonna

Madonna moved from her native Michigan to New York in 1977, with dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. She studied with choreographer Alvin Ailey and modeled. In 1979, she became part of the Patrick Hernandez Revue, a disco outfit who had the hit "Born to Be Alive." She traveled to Paris with Hernandez; it was there that she met Dan Gilroy, who would soon become her boyfriend. Upon returning to New York, the pair formed the Breakfast Club, a pop/dance group. Madonna originally played drums for the band, but she soon became the lead singer. In 1980, she left the band and formed Emmy with her former boyfriend, drummer Stephen Bray. Soon, Bray and Madonna broke off from the group and began working on some dance/disco-oriented tracks. A demo tape of these tracks worked its way to Mark Kamins, a New York-based DJ/producer. Kamins directed the tape to Sire Records, who signed the singer during 1982.

Kamins produced Madonna's first single, "Everybody," which became a club and dance hit at the end of 1982; her second single, 1983's "Physical Attraction," was another club hit. In June of 1983, she had her third club hit with the bubbly "Holiday," which was written by Jellybean Benitez. Madonna's self-titled debut album was released in September of 1983; "Holiday" became her first Top 40 hit the following month. "Borderline" became her first Top Ten hit in March of 1984, beginning a remarkable string of 17 consecutive Top Ten hits. While "Lucky Star" was climbing to number four, Madonna began working on her first starring role in a feature film, Susan Seidelman's Desperately Seeking Susan.

At the beginning of 1987, she had her fifth number one single with "Open Your Heart," the third number one from True Blue alone. The title cut from the soundtrack of her third feature film, Who's That Girl?, was another chart-topping hit, although the film itself was another box-office bomb. 1988 was a relatively quiet year for Madonna, as she spent the first half of the year acting in David Mamet's Speed the Plow on Broadway. In the meantime, she released the remix album You Can Dance. After withdrawing the divorce papers she filed at the beginning of 1988, she divorced Penn at the beginning of 1989.

Beginning in 1995, Madonna began one of her most subtle image makeovers as she lobbied for the title role in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita. Backing away from the overt sexuality of Erotica and Bedtime Stories, Madonna recast herself as an upscale sophisticate, and the compilation Something to Remember fit into the plan nicely. Released in the fall of 1995, around the same time she won the coveted role of Evita Peron, the album was comprised entirely of ballads, designed to appeal to the mature audience that would also be the target of Evita. As the filming completed, Madonna announced she was pregnant and her daughter, Lourdes, was born late in 1996, just as Evita was scheduled for release. The movie was greeted with generally positive reviews and Madonna began a campaign for an Oscar nomination that resulted in her winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy), but not the coveted Academy Award nomination. The soundtrack for Evita, however, was a modest hit, with a dance remix of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and the newly written "You Must Love Me" both becoming hits.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin - an international superstar and native of Puerto Rico who has sold more than 15 million records worldwide appears to be conquering the US as well, thanks in large part to an electrifying performance of his worldwide smash hit (and 1998 World Cup theme song), "La Copa de la Vida," at the Grammy Awards show in February 1999.

He also continues to maintain a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Rebecca de Alba (who hosts a TV show in Mexico), and in regard to his singing career he said to USA Today:

Mother Teresa

"Keep the joy of loving the poor and share this joy
with all you meet. Remember works of love are
works of Peace. God Bless you."
- Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, on August 27, 1910. She was the youngest of three children. Her family was of Albanian descent.

At the age of twelve, she felt strongly the call of God. She knew she had to be a missionary to spread the love of Christ. At the age of eighteen she left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish community of nuns with missions in India. When she took her vows as a Sister of Loretto, she chose the name Teresa after Saint Therese of Lisieux. After a few months' training in Dublin she was sent to India, where on May 24, 1931, she took her initial vows as a nun.

From 1931 to 1948 Mother Teresa taught geography and cathechismat at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta. In 1944, she became the principal of St. Mary's. Soon Sister Teresa contracted tuberculosis, was unable to continue teaching and was sent to Darjeeling for rest and recuperation.

She glimpsed outside the convent walls made such a deep impression on her that in 1948 she received permission from her superiors to leave the convent school and devote herself to working among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. Although she had no funds, she depended on Divine Providence, and started an open-air school for slum children. Soon she was joined by voluntary helpers, and financial support was also forthcoming. This made it possible for her to extend the scope of her work.

On October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa received permission from the Holy See to start her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity", whose primary task was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. In 1965 the Society became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI.

The Missionaries of Charity throughout the world are aided and assisted by Co-Workers who became an official International Association on March 29, 1969. By the 1990s there were over one million Co-Workers in more than 40 countries. Along with the Co-Workers, the lay Missionaries of Charity try to follow Mother Teresa's spirit and charism in their families.

Mother Teresa's work has been recognised and acclaimed throughout the world and she has received a number of awards and distinctions, including the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize (1971) and the Nehru Prize for her promotion of international peace and understanding (1972). She also received the Balzan Prize (1979) and the Templeton and Magsaysay awards.
